Thunder Clinch 3A GSHL League Title

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Mountain View Football beat rival Evergreen 48-7, as the Thunder improved to 5-0 in 3A Greater Saint Helen’s League play, clinching the league championship.

The Thunder finished the regular season at 6-3 overall and earned the right to host the first round of the Washington High School Football Playoffs against Bishop Blanchet on Saturday, November 5.

Mountain View got off to a quick start, jumping out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter highlighted by touchdown runs by Peyton Regas and Jack Mertens, who led the Thunder rushing attack with 84 yards and three touchdowns. Sean Delmage matched Mertens with 84 yards on 10 carries, while senior quarterback Andre Scheer recorded 81 yards on the ground.

Sophomore Darian Chase caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown, finishing the regular season with at least one touchdown in each game this season.

Saturday’s game will kick off at 7 p.m. at McKenzie Stadium.
