Thunder Down Eagles To Open League Play
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Mountain View Football won its league opener on Friday, Sept. 30, taking down the Hudson’s Bay Eagles, 34-16, at McKenzie Stadium.
The Thunder got out to a hot start, taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Mountain View added a touchdown apiece in each of the remaining quarters to hold off the Eagles.
Five different Mountain View players scored touchdowns for the Thunder, as Mountain View racked up a total of 402 yards on the ground. Junior Perry led the rushing attack with 181 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, and quarterback Andre Scheer posted 121 yards on 12 carries with one score. Nile Jones and Peyton Regas each got into the endzone as well.
Scheer also passed for one touchdown, finding sophomore Darian Chase, who has scored at least one touchdown in each of the Thunder’s five games this season. Chase also recorded an interception, his fourth of the season.
The Thunder will continue league play with a trip to Kelso on Friday, Oct. 7. The game will kick off at 7 p.m.
