Coach Mathieson is presently the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director for Mountain View High School, Vancouver, WA. Previously he was the Athletic Director at Meridian High School in Bellingham, Washington (2006), and he spent two years coaching quarterbacks as an assistant football coach at Western Washington University (2004-2006); he also served as the teams Academic Coordinator. Coach Mathieson was the Head Football Coach at Ferndale High School, Ferndale, WA, in 2003, directing the Golden Eagles to a 9-2 record, a Northwest League title and a quarterfinal round appearance in the Class 3A State Playoffs. The team received the John R. Trotto Team Sportsmanship Award and Adam was named Washington State Football Coaches Association District 1 and Northwest League Coach of the Year.  Prior to being named Head Coach at Ferndale, he was an assistant coach at FHS for four years. He also assisted in track and field for four seasons at Ferndale and spent one year as an assistant football coach at Squalicum High School in Bellingham. Overall, Coach Mathieson, the winningest football coach in Mountain View history, has been a Head Football coach for 15 seasons (14 at Mountain View High School and 1 at Ferndale High School), compiling a 108-54 overall record (63-19 League Record), seven league championships, eleven post season berths, three top 5 state finishes, 11 coach of the year awards, including the prestigious 2015 United States Marine Corps and Glazier Football Clinics Semper Fi Coaches award, two separate team sportsmanship awards and he was honored as the District IV State Athletic Director of the Year (2017).  He completed his Masters degree in education (guidance and counseling) from City University in 2004; received bachelor's degree in history from Western Washington University in 1999 and obtained teaching certificate in 2000. The former high school quarterback was also a four year letter winner in the Western Washington University football program as a defensive back (1994-1997). He is married to the former Jenny Erickson and they have 3 children, Avery (16), Aylia (13) and Grayson (7).
